OSHA-Authorized Trainer Program

The Mid-South OTI Education Center offers the OSHA-Authorized Outreach Trainer Program to Region VI, which authorizes trainers to conduct OSHA Outreach courses focused on the recognition, avoidance, abatement and prevention of safety and health hazards in workplaces.

Individual Industry Outreach Trainer Program Requirements

Construction Industry

Requirements

Five years of construction safety experience. A college degree in occupational safety and health, a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) designation, in the applicable training area may be substituted for a total of two years of experience.

  • OSHA #510 – Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry (Must have been taken within the last 7 years) 
  • OSHA #500 – Trainer Course in OSHA Standards for Construction

General Industry

Requirements

Five years of general industry safety experience. A college degree in occupational safety and health, a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) designation, in the applicable training area may be substituted for a total of two years of experience.  

  • OSHA #511 – Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the General Industry (Must have been taken within the last 7 years)
  • OSHA #501 – Trainer Course in OSHA Standards for General Industry
