The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has launched a certificate program, Safety & Health Fundamentals, which provides employees training on occupational safety and health to reduce injuries, illnesses and fatalities among workers in state and local governments.
To earn a certificate, participants must complete a minimum of seven courses, consisting of three required courses and additional elective courses, totaling at least 68 hours of in-class training for construction and general industry, and at least 77 hours of in-class training for maritime industry.
The Safety & Health Fundamentals Certificate Program is available to anyone interested in becoming more knowledgeable in the field of occupational safety and health. The program is in line with OSHA’s mission of ensuring safe and healthful work conditions for men and women by enforcing these standards. For more information about this program, visit OSHA.gov.
Upon completion of the last course to earn a certificate, participants should complete a Construction Application Verification Form, General Industry Application Verification Form, or Martime Industry Application Verification Form including a $95 processing fee.
